Do you think you are just your mind and thoughts? In meditation, you can become the observer of your thoughts. You can learn to detach from them, look at them and release them. If that’s possible, who or what is doing the observing?

There is an aspect of your consciousness beyond your thinking mind. You can view this aspect as the part of your consciousness which is working towards connecting with your higher self.
The part of the mind which creates thoughts can be seen as being more of the 3D world in which we live. In meditation, it’s fairly easy to learn to distinguish between the two. The one which starts to bring in thoughts about what’s for dinner, what’s happening at work is the 3D mind and the aim is to learn to quieten that part.
I think you learn on this journey that Spirit/the Universe exist on a different dimensional plane and that the consciousness behind the thinking mind can connect to that plane. Once you learn to quiet the thinking mind, it becomes easier to connect with this realm. That is when you start to hear your higher self, angels and guides speaking to you.
As you go about your daily life, see if you can distinguish between these two aspects of your mind and consciousness. See if you can detach from your thoughts and observe them as they flow through you. Get a feel for your consciousness beyond your thoughts and know that this is the gateway to connecting to your higher self.
