Improve Your Self-Esteem

Do you look at the confident people around you and wish you were more like them? How do you feel about yourself inside or daren’t you even ask!

As we grow up, we go through so many situations, relationships, etc. that they can take their toll on us. Teachers and peers that put us down can dent our self-esteem. Relationship break-ups can make us question our self-worth – what’s wrong with me, what did I do wrong?

It requires inner strength to keep going when these things occur. You have to be resilient to keep going and not let it affect you. But for many of us, these things can take their toll and affect how we approach life.

On a subconscious level, our self-worth/self-esteem can take a hit. Do any of the statements below resonate with you?

  • Do you feel overlooked at work or by people?
  • Do you feel respected by others?
  • Do you put yourself down?
  • Do people listen to you seriously?
  • Does everyone else’s needs come before yours?
  • Do you find it hard to say “no” to other’s requests?

Deep down we know where we are in our self-esteem. On a range of 1-10, where 10 is high self-esteem/self-worth, how high is your self-worth? Let a number float into your mind without really thinking about it.

If you get a low number, chances are you have subconscious beliefs which are hindering what you can achieve and how you are treated in life. Low self-esteem may hold you back from achieving your goals because you don’t believe yourself capable of success.

People can pick up on the fact that someone has low self-esteem/self-worth. They may take advantage and make more demands on you, not respect your opinions and so on. It also affects you since you may decide that you can’t achieve your goals because you don’t have what it takes. You avoid doing things in life because of this – play small when in fact you’d love to play big.

We all have the right to have high self-esteem – this isn’t about bragging or thinking you’re better than everyone else. It’s about having that inner strength and power to know that you deserve respect from others. You have the right to put your needs first at times and to say “no” to things you really don’t want to do. It’s about learning to honour yourself.

When you have high self-esteem/self-worth, your filter on life changes. Now you have a positive attitude and the belief that you have what it takes to accomplish your goals.

If any of this resonates with you, then it’s time to improve your self-esteem/self-worth. I can help you to remove limiting beliefs in these areas so that you have a positive self-image. One that will give you the confidence to pursue your goals and dreams.
