Your Energetic Body

Our body is connected and surrounded by energies – sometimes called the life force energy. Our health depends not just on our physical body but the energies which connect with it. For example, treatments such as acupuncture work on the energy meridians that run through our body. Sometimes it’s difficult for people to connect with something they can’t see. Science has yet to really start looking but this article on our energetic body shows research going on in this area.

You may have heard the word “chakra” before – they are spoken about in Buddhism and Hinduism and refer to energy centres throughout the body. In essence they connect the body to the universal energy around us, i.e. prana or chi.

There are 7 main chakras through the body and they radiate and receive energy constantly. If you have problems, fears or negative issues, your chakras become dirty with dense, dark energy. Dirty chakras can’t push through sufficient energy, and you may feel sluggish or out of balance which could lead to illness.

For example, the root chakra is connected to our basic survival needs such as having shelter, food and warmth. In the past year, many people have experienced more stress, anxiety, work/financial worries. This can lead to the root chakra becoming blocked, leading to people feeling ungrounded and unsafe. There may be pains in the lower back and legs as you try to work out how to carry the burden of these worries and move forward.

Our physical and energetic bodies are always warning us of where our problems lie. Energy healers such as acupuncturists, Reiki and so on, can pick up where these blockages are and help you to release them. It’s almost as if our worries and fears start to create blocks in our energy fields before they flow into the body to manifest as a physical illness.

It’s easier to push down the unease and worry, but in the long run it impacts your health. It’s difficult and sometimes fearful to face our concerns but once you do, you can start to work on them. Write down your stresses and fears, talk about them if you can. There’s a catharsis as you do this – almost a sigh of relief from the body that you have acknowledged them. Ignoring them only leads to more anxiety and worry in the long term.

Life gives us many problems but learning to tune in to your body to know what ails it and facing them head on is a wonderful way to maintain your wellbeing. Catch these problems early before they start to really impact your health.
