These past few weeks have been quite a surreal time with lockdown. We’ve been forced to virtually stop our life in ways we could never imagine. We’re so used to filling up our days and “doing” things but now we are forced to just “be” and that can be very difficult.

On a spiritual level we’re being made to look within ourselves and at our lives in a way that may bring up emotions and thoughts which before we hid from by staying busy.
You can use this time of lockdown to revaluate your life and the people in it. The spiritual journey is not always easy because it makes you look at your behaviours, some of which aren’t always wonderful. But it’s OK because we’re not perfect and now is a good time to look at ourselves and work on changing things for the better.
Do you get impatient or angry quickly, do you love to gossip or judge people immediately? We all have habits and traits which we can improve upon. You could view lockdown as a kind of retreat if you can find time to be with yourself and think on these things.
I’ve found that although it’s not easy to admit “bad” behaviours, once you do, you can start to work on yourself and change for the better. For me, one thing I had to admit was that I sometimes judge people too quickly. So I learnt not to make snap decisions about people as soon as I met them, but to get to know them more.
If you can, use this time to reflect on your life, relationships, etc. What sort of things would you like to change about yourself? The spiritual journey involves holding all aspects of yourself up to the light and working on how to become a better person. This allows us to have more compassion and understanding of people and the world. Every small step you take, leads you to a better place.
