Chakras

You may have heard the word “chakra” before – this is a Sanskrit word meaning wheel as well as circle. Chakras are spoken about in Buddhism and Hinduism and refer to energy centres thoughout the body. In essence they connect the body to the universal energy around us, i.e. prana or chi.

Sometimes it’s difficult for people to connect with something that they can’t see. Science has yet to really start looking into chakras but this article on meridians and chakras shows that there is research going on in this area.

There are 7 main chakras through the body and they radiate and receive energy constantly. If you hold negative thoughts, your chakras become dirty with dense, dark energy. Dirty chakras can’t push through sufficient energy, and you  may feel sluggish and out of balance which could lead to illness.

The first 3 chakras (Root, Sacral and Solar Plexus) deal with issues related to living on Earth. For example, the root chakra is connected to our basic survival needs such as having shelter, food and warmth. Any financial worries can lead to this chakra becoming clogged.

From the heart chakra onwards, we start to connect with the spiritual realm. The heart chakra is connected with love and relationships. Any issues here cause that chakra to become blocked, maybe making it hard to create new, trusting relationships. The throat chakra is obviously about communication and speaking your truth, etc.

We all have issues and problems in life. If they’re not processed or dealt with correctly, your chakras and energy bodies can become congested, leaving you feeling lethargic and listless.

As you work on clearing your chakras, energy flows through your body clearly – you may feel more enthusiastic about life.
