Many people have heard about the Law of Attraction and are interested in how they can use it to manifest their goals and dreams. It seems all you have to do is to think positively and it will magically appear in your life. But as anyone who has tried it knows, it’s not as easy as it sounds.
I’ve written a short story to illustrate how you can add techniques into your daily life which will allow you over time to realise that you can manifest your life. This story is about Jo and in the next 3 blogs, you’ll see how her commitment to manifest changes her life. Let’s start!
Jo’s read about the Law of Attraction and books on manifesting and is fascinated on how she can get it to work in her life. She’s interested in taking 6 months off work to go travelling, but she needs the funds for this so she’s trying to work out how to earn extra money. That’s her big manifestation goal.
She works as a project manager but the salary isn’t enough to allow her to save much. She’d really love to find a contract role, but she hasn’t got the confidence to do it. She always thinks she hasn’t got enough experience. But she knows a good contract would allow her to save.
Jo’s life is busy. Work is always full of meetings, resolving conflicts, looming deadlines and writing documents. She likes to go out in the evenings with her friends, or the gym or her painting class which she loves. She wonders how on earth she can fit in anything to do with manifesting.
One weekend, over a cup of coffee, she decides to think about what she can do to help her manifest her travel goal. She knows she can only add things which won’t take much time. Jo’s heard meditation is good to focus the mind, and heaven knows she could do with that! But how on earth can she find 20 minutes to meditate every day?!
Jo’s recently read that placing your awareness on your heart and “thinking” from there is a good way to connect to the Universe. So she closes her eyes, breathes slowly and places her awareness on her heart. She immediately feels calmer. And she says in her mind “Please show me what I can do to manifest my travel goal.”
Jo senses a feeling of gratitude and she realises that’s a good way to move your vibration higher. She’s read that being at a high vibration allows you hear the advice of the universe more easily. Jo decides she can incorporate that into her life since she knows this won’t take much time.
But how can she stay in high vibrations as much as possible during the day? She remembers a practice called Segment Intending which is written about in the Law of Attraction. This allows you to give intent on how you want your day to go.
Great she thinks, that will allow me to consciously choose how I want each part of my day to go. Again, Jo realises this shouldn’t take too much time.
And then she decides she’ll get up earlier, 3 times a week and do 10 minutes of meditation before she goes to work. There are so many guided meditations online, she’s sure she can find some she’ll love to do.
Her plan is set. Jo’s curious to see how these simple additions will help her. She’s not said I have to find the money for my travel goal in a month. No, she wants to know how adding these techniques will enhance her life and help her towards her goal. She knows that if she carries on as she is, time will fly and she may never get the chance to travel for 6 months 🙁
She decides that come what may, every night she’ll find 3 things to be grateful for and write them down, or maybe just add a word in her phone if she’s tired. Jo knows the feeling of gratitude is more important that just writing it down.
She decides that at the weekend, she’ll know the important meetings and deadlines coming up, so she can set intentions for these as part of segment intending. And also, in the evenings or morning she can set more intentions for her day if she wants.
She’ll set the alarm early 3 days a week and do 10 mins of meditation and see how it goes. From everything Jo’s read, she knows its important to make these things a habit, so she makes the commitment to do this for at least 30 days to start with.
Jo has made the commitment and set the intention to the do the following things for 30 days. They say that’s how long it take to from a habit.
- Gratitude Exercise
- Segment Intending
- Meditate 10 minutes a day, 3 days a week
